FACILITIES

In today’s world of frictionless interaction (social media, on-line shopping, etc) Kosmolgym reminds us that friction is just what happens when things meet. The Latin word hostis provides the roots for both host and hostile. Similarly friction is something we both seek and avoid. The games at Kosmologym are optimized for encounters with others. Shake, smell, stare, hold, insure, freeze, release. Our games will challenge you to explore, shift and abandon your boundaries.

Warm up

Let go of yourself and let others in. Here is a space for self guided and group warm-ups to prepare you to consider others. Yoga, paired meditations, movement workshops and more will be offered.

FREEZE / RELEASE

Join a team & hold on! Freeze Release Ball is a team sport that demands closeness. You can survive alone but you can’t move or score. Stray too far from your team and opponents can freeze you until a teammate comes to the rescue.

PROBABALL

Insurance was born in flames but may be extinguished by floods. Explore collective risk protection with Probaball.

PLANT RACE

Plant Race is a cooperative sunbathing team sport. On a suspended scaffolding two plants slowly make their way over an obstacle course. Beneath the scaffold two platforms wait for sunbathers. The weight of the sunbathers activates a grow light bathing both plant and bather. A collaborative race at the plant’s pace.

ALGORITHMIC ANIMAL

The Algorithmic Animal is powered by a heart. Sit in the center of the ring with the ear clip attached to your earlobe. In each corner of the ring a controller can change the algorithmic musical composition, trigger individual instruments and turn your voice into song.

CALCIUM DANCE

Calcium Carbonate is not just for earrings. Inside our ears the movements of calcium crystals helps us have a sense of our body’s position in space. Use the minerals in your head as you guide another mineral through a maze.

Here at Kosmologym we recognize all our members from institutions and minerals to plants and animals. Rediscover yourself, not only in but of the world. Not ready for a membership? You can try Kosmologym for free if you bring 5 friends. That’s right, free entry if you are in a group of 6 or more.

“G.Bop Orchestra  is an experimental percussive ensemble that emerged from South London in autumn in 2013. Led by percussionist and composer Greta Eacott, the band has gone on to release three e.ps and their debut album, Punctuations In Space (recorded in various non-studio settings) and toured in UK and Scandinavia, with a flexible line-up featuring different combinations of players from across Europe. Their high tension acoustic live shows bring fresh and abstract musical ideas together with a clarity and direction, making the G.Bop orchestra as at home touring with a pop band as they are in an art gallery.”

Exercises in Aural Architecture x Alex De Little

10 February  14:00 – 16:00

facebook.com/events/216576012234072/

In “Exercises in Aural Architecture” Alex de Little will inhabit the Warm Up space in Kosmologym and create a range of situations in which the Kosmologym space and other locations around Østerbro are actively listened to by audiences. The workshop and pieces use the language of the physical properties of sound to frame (and reframe) space through performative games whose instructions are always determined by listening to the acoustic response(s) of the space. Through his practice, listening becomes the method through which audiences and participants begin to know and engage with space.
